Player of the Week - Alex Woody

Alex pitched 4 2/3 innings of no hit baseball in his last outing, striking out 9 batters. He also made two nice plays on come backers to the mound and even picked off a runner at first base.

Alex constantly exemplifies a strong work ethic and determined focus during his lessons at the Pelicans Training Facility and continues to grow as a player and leader for his team.

Player of the week - Wyatt Davis

The Pelicans Training Facility would like to congratulate Wyatt Davis on earning "Player of the Week" honors for his performance in last weekends tournament. Wyatt pitched a complete game in the championship allowing only 4 hits and 3 runs while striking out 10 to lead his team to their first tournament championship.

Wyatt has been training at the Pelicans Facility for over a year and has quickly become one of the top 10U pitchers in the Charlotte area. His confidence and knowledge has really grown since he started training.

Player of the week - Liam Fulbright

The Pelicans Training Facility would like to congratulate Liam Fulbright on being named this weeks "Player of the Week" for his efforts in leading his team to the tournament championship last weekend.

Liam batted .778 on the weekend going 7 for 9 with 2 doubles and his first career homerun. He launched a towering shot over the left field fence during the championship game, leading his team to an 11-4 victory to capture their 2nd title of the season.

Liam also pitched 2 innings to close the first game Sunday. He did not allow an earned run, struck out 2 and lowered his ERA to 1.05 for the season.

Liam's hardwork and passion for the game is second to none and he has became one of the top players at the 9U level in the Charlotte area.

Player of the Week - Drake Trull

Drake Trull has been awarded player of the week honors for the Pelicans Training Facility after his huge weekend at the plate for his travel ball team.10 year old Drake hit his first ever homerun deep over the 225 foot left center field fence. In his next at-bat he hit a ball that was caught at the wall as the outfield was playing extremely deep. He then torched another ball over the right fielders head that landed at the base of the wall.

For the weekend he ended up going 5 for 7 with a homerun, 2 doubles and played a flawless first base and was part of 2 double plays.

Drake has been training with the Pelicans Training Facility for several months now and his passion and love for the game has sky-rocketed. He is eager to learn and always shows up focused and ready to get better every time he steps foot in the facility.

Player of the Week - Clinton Turner

Clinton pitched 5 total innings for his 9U teams last tournament. He gave up only 2 hits and 3 runs while walking 2 and striking out 4 batters.

His team was playing up in a 10U Open tournament and Clinton started the semi-final game against the Park Sharon Blue Sox. Pitching against one of the premier pitchers in the area, Clinton shut down the Blue Sox offense and led his team in the championship game of the GOLD bracket.

Clinton has been getting instruction at the Pelicans Training Facility for 2 years and is considered one of the top 9U pitchers in all of Charlotte. His composure and poise on the mound and intimidating presence makes him one of the most feared pitchers in the area.

Player of the Week - Bo Bodine

Bo had an incredible weekend for the 13U Pelicans baseball team this weekend at the plate and on the mound helping them go 4-1 on the weekend and reaching the championship game. For the weekend, Bo batted .600 going 9 for 15 with 6 RBI's, 2 doubles, a HBP and a walk. In the first game Sunday, Bo started off the bottom of the 7th inning with a single. His courtesy runner was moved to second on a sac bunt and then came around to score the walk off run. On the mound, Bo pitched 6 innings surrendering 6 hits and giving up only 2 runs in earning the win. He struck out 4 batters and picked off 2 more.Bo has been taking private lessons from Coach Long for 3 years now and has seen his knowledge of the game and leadership qualities grow tremendously. He continues to push himself each and every day and it shows in the way he carries himself at practice and on the field.

Player of the Week - Cooper Botts

The Pelicans Training Facility would like to congratulate Cooper Botts on earning Player of the Week honors for his dominating performance last weekend. Cooper threw a no-hitter, striking out 7 batters including the first 6 batters of the game. He walked the first batter of the 3rd inning and immediately picked him off. That was the only baserunner of the game for Botts as he was near perfect in his performance. Cooper has been working hard during his lessons to develop his leadership skills, controlling his emotions and repeating his mechanics on the mound. Congratulations Cooper!.
